Alex Van Halen took to Instagram on Monday (October 21) to share the full six-minute version of “Unfinished,” the last song that the drummer worked on with his late brother, guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. Brief snippets of the instrumental track are featured throughout the audiobook of Alex’s new memoir, Brothers, which was published on Tuesday (October 22). While “Unfinished” is the final song that the Van Halen bandmates wrote and recorded together, Alex recently disclosed to Billboard that there is additional unheard Eddie Van Halen material in the musician’s archives. “I’m not in a hurry,” Alex said of sharing more of Eddie’s unreleased music. “I do have a certain obligation to keep it to Ed’s standards. He was meticulous and he was a pain in the ass… and I need to have access to the right takes, ’cause not every day did we play at our best. But we always had the tape recorders running.” (Consequence of Sound)
