As I Lay Dying’s guitarist Ken Susi and drummer Nick Pierce have just quit the group, six days after bassist Ryan Neff’s departure from the controversial San Diego metalcore band. As I Lay Dying returned to the music scene in 2018, following the arrest and imprisonment of frontman Tim Lambesis back in 2014, who served two and a half years behind bars for hiring a hitman to murder his wife. Lambesis re-formed the group in 2018 with the classic lineup intact, before Susi, Neff, and Pierce joined the group in 2022 to replace Nick Hippa, Josh Gilbert, and Jordan Mancino, who all left the band at various points. Susi announced his departure from the group on Instagram on Thursday (October 24), writing, “My time playing with As I Lay Dying has come to an end today. My personal morals have recently been tested to a breaking point, and it’s now the saddest ending to what could have been the greatest second chance for this band.” (Consequence of Sound)
